As winter fades and the flowers start to bloom again, it is the perfect time to check your plumbing systems. The winter can take a toll on your pipes so doing some maintenance can help you avoid costly repairs
Checking frozen pipe damage is extremely important as small cracks can go unnoticed. There can be water stains, musty odors, reduced water pressure, and unexplained increases in your water bill. If you can’t see anything wrong but the problems continue to worsen then you should call a plumber to check for you.
Testing outdoor faucets and hose pipes are prone to freezing due to cold temperatures. When turning on each of these faucets you should check for weak water flow, leaks around the handle, and dripping when it is turned off. Just like leaks within the home, leaks outside can do just as much damage.
Clearing gutters and downspouts are on the outside of your home, but should not be forgotten. If forgotten there can be water that pools around your foundation due to the water not having a clear path of where to go.
There are plenty of things to check off your list for spring, but there is always professionals who can come in and do that inspection for you. If everything appears fine, but there is a small issue it can be handled very quickly. Maintenance repairs are less expensive then emergency repairs.
