Emergencies are bound to happen at any time. Plumbing emergencies, however, are a special kind of pain. There are few things worse than having your house’s drains clogged or your kitchen faucet not working, and of course, you start to worry. How is this going to be solved? Will it take too long?
Well, put those concerns aside because when you rely on plumbing professionals like us, you can be sure that we know what we are doing.
Here are the 7 most common plumbing emergencies we solve on a day-to-day basis.
Clogged sinks: This one ranks first in how usually it happens and how annoying can be. Picture it, you are doing the dishes and suddenly water levels start to rise in the sink. The reason? The drain is not working. On the bright side, this is something that can be easily solved by removing whatever object that’s blocking the drain, if you have tried to do it and the problem remains, it’s time to call a plumber.
Burst pipes: A terrible and very visible emergency, just like the name hints, it happens when a pipe breaks and bursts as a consequence pouring out large amounts of water everywhere. Old not properly maintained pipes are the most common reason, that’s why it’s always smart to keep your pipes well taken care of.
Leaking water heater: Leaking is already a problem on its own, but what about finding out that your water heater leaks? That’s a waste of water and money. Fortunately, if the issue is minor it can be fixed by replacing the valves, however, if the problem comes from within, you’ll need to buy a new water heater.
Sump Pump Failure: This is a possibility if your house counts with a basement because that’s where sump pumps are located, if a sump pump works fine it helps to drain out of your house rainwater in case of heavy rain, preventing floods. If you live in an area prone to extreme rain, you want to fix it immediately any problem your sump pump might have.
Clogged toilets: A telltale sign is having a toilet that refuses to flush, even when you have already tried all the DIY solutions. Forcing it to flush is not a good idea as it will lead to all the contents inside the toilet spilling out onto the floor, something that you’ll want to avoid, because…gross? A toilet that’s not working as it should can quickly become a nightmare especially if it’s the only toilet in the house.
Broken Water Line: So you open your kitchen faucet and there’s no water, or you go to wash your hands in the bathroom and water pressure is minimal. What could be happening? The most obvious reason is that the water line, the line that brings water to your place has broken.
No Hot Water: Hot water is one of those things that make our lives easier, there’s nothing better than a warm bath after a stressful day, so not having hot water is definitively a serious problem. The main culprit behind it? Your water heater or rather, your water heater having a problem like a broken heating mechanism.
